What is Action Learning?

Action Learning is a method of peer learning which uses enquiry and problem solving to enable participants to find practical ways for dealing with real work challenges and dilemmas. It emphasises learning through action and applying learning and experience in practical ways.

Action Learning is about an inquiring approach to problems issues and dilemmas. It encourages questioning and understanding, rather than advice giving and instant solutions. It also takes account of the fact that we often learn best in the company of others and that by doing so we are able to share in their knowledge, insights and perspectives.
